Signature proven counterfeit
Oil on canvas, signed "C. Pissaro 1894", 45x65 cm. The painting is done on a previously used canvas. The signature has been moved to the lower left corner from the lower right. The over-painted canvas is from the 19th century second half. The now visible painting is quite fresh, probably from 1930-1940's. Pissaro was impressionist and has never been painted with such sweeping move that this artist has used. Brush Scripture is indeed released, but it is not Pissaro. It's a good painting probably made in the 1940's. The district court's assessment: The painting is a so-called spurious forgery. It is not painted by Pissaro nor signed by him.
