Anna-Stina Ehrenfeldt Biography:

Anna-Stina Ehrenfeldt was born on 2nd January 1927 in the Swedish west coast town of Halmstad.

She started painting at the age of 12 and studied with the famous surrealist painter

Axel Ohlson of Halmstad Gruppen, who on realising her talent taught her all the basics

of oil painting. After finishing her education at the local girl’s school in Halmstad,

she studied at Corners School of Art in Stockholm and married the jazz-musician and writer

Sture Dahlstrom in 1948 at the age of 21.

In 1956 Anna-Stina left Sweden and moved abroad with her husband and three children.

She spent the rest of her life living abroad in Spain, Paris, London, New York, San Francisco,

Arizona and New Mexico, while always keeping a foothold in her native Sweden.

Anna-Stina Ehrenfeldt had her first big exhibition together with three American painters at

the Casa de Cultura Museum in Malaga, Spain and another group exhibition at the Museo de Bellas Artes

a year later in the same city. Her first exhibition as a solo artist was at the Woodstock Gallery

London in 1965.

This London exhibition was followed by solo exhibitions at the Red Barn Gallery in San Francisco,

The Gorline Gallery in New York, Elyseum in Taos, New Mexico and an invitation to exhibit her work

as part of the “Hands Across the Sea” exhibition at the Workshop Centre in Tucson, Arizona.

From 1967 onwards her exhibitions were predominantly at different galleries and museums in her

native Sweden or at the successful gallery she set up at Heingeborgen, Lovestad.

Here she organised annual exhibitions from 1982 until the time of her death in 2003.

She also participated in a number of films/videos/performances now available on a DVD with

the title Hoghastighetsfilm ("High velocity films") from www.njutafilms.nu
