Charlie Bood was a Swedish comic artist and illustrator, best known for his documentary comics based on true stories, wildlife and sports events. He studied at the Bergh Art Academy, where he took classes and from Bovil. One of his fellow students was Eugen Semitjov, with whom he subsequently worked on about 60 strips of Semitjov's newspaper comic 'Allan Kämpe'.
Bood has made biographical comics about the Beatles (for Bild-Journalen) and Björn Borg (for Buster), and has worked on the local Swedish production of 'The Saint' comics for Helgonet in the 1960s. His documentary series 'Naturens under' was published in Blondie and Rundsnack, and he made the humorous series 'Sme-Olle' with Kåbeson for Aret Runt.
Besides his work in Sweden, Bood was also active on the German market. With Bob Heinz, he filled the comic pages of the German children's magazine Horrido, published by Danehl's Verlag in 1954-56. He was responsible for adventure serials like 'Tilo der Rächer' and 'Ralf der junge Entdecker'. He was co-founder of the German comic 'Harry', that was published by Lehning Verlag and also featured work by Heinz, Hansrudi Wäscher and Helmut Nickel.
