Edvards Grube biography:

Edvards Grube's creative force is the embodiment of Latvian mentality, which reaches the revelation of spiritual tension in peasant-like thoroughness.
His board, masculine brush-stroke carries a strong emotional message, which can be hardly restrained by reason. Restricted colour scheme of warm colours, supplemented with pasty, layered red or blue, creates a hymnic atmospere.
There are no accidental topics in Edvards Grube's paintings. His path of artistic growth carries the dramatic markings of the Crucified, the subject of mother and child, the motif of light in the window, fragments of violin, bread. Each depicted object is transformed into a sign that carries the whole load of the work.
