Oil on board, signed "J.Bennetter". Ostensibly depicting a genuine painting by the Norwegian artist Johan Jacob Bennetter, (1822-1909). Attempted aggravated fraud. In 1986 a private individual tried to deceive an unknown number of people buying seven paintings for a total of 157,000 Norwegian kroner. The man referred to a valuation made by an auction house in Oslo, Norway. He never told that he had provided the paintings with forged signatures. The painting has been seized by police and after examination judged as counterfeit.
