Oil on board, signed "K Bergslien". Ostensibly depicting a genuine painting by the Norwegian artist Knud Larsen Bergslien, (1827-1908). Attempted aggravated fraud. In 1986 a private individual tried to deceive an unknown number of people buying seven paintings for a total of 157,000 Norwegian kroner. The man referred to a valuation made by an auction house in Oslo, Norway. He never told that he had provided the paintings with forged signatures – that they were not at all genuine which he claimed. The painting has been seized by police and after examination judged as counterfeit.
