Mária SZANTHO

Maria Szantho was born in Southern Hungary in a city called Szeged in the year 1897. Well known for her intricately detailed naturalist paintings, her work has been displayed in a variety of galleries and auction houses such as the Mucsarnok in Budapest. Having spent a significant amount of time studying in France and Italy, she was most widely appraised for her hedonistic portrayal of women posing nude against a landscape as well as portraits. Szantho is also well known for her incorporation of traditional aspects of impressionism and romance in her paintings.
