Bob Kuhn (American, 1920-2007) was passionate about wildlife from a young age. Before studying at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he would take trips to the Buffalo Zoo and draw the animals. Once he turned to full-time easel painting in 1970, he began making trips to Africa to study the animals in their habitat. In the words on Tom Davis, the author of, "Wild Harvest: The Animal Art of Bob Kuhn," "The genius of Bob Kuhn is his ability to lay bare the drama, the majesty, and the essential nobility of the animal kingdom. Few have done it better; none have done it with greater conviction."
