Uli Pohl, geb. 1935 in München.
Studium an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste, München,
bei Ernst Geitlinger. Diplom der Akademie.
Seit 1958 lichtplastische Skulpturen und Zeichnungen.
Beteiligt u.a. an den Ausstellungen der Gruppe Zero ab 1961.
Mitglied der intern. Gruppe Nouvelle Tendance, Paris.
Beteiligt an sämtlichen Ausstellungen, u.a. “Nouvelle Tendance”, Louvre, Paris und “The Responsive Eye” Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Buch und Regie zu einem Fernsehfilm für den Hessischen Rundfunk
über die Bildhauer Wotruba, Avramidis und Urteil.
1967 - 71 Lehrtätigkeit an der Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Hamburg.
Lehraufträge in Bremen und Offenbach.
Kunstpreise:
Großer Preis der IV.Biennale San Marino, 1963;
gemeinsam mit der Gruppe Zero.
Kunstpreis der Böttcherstraße, Bremen, 1971.
Großer Preis der 1.Triennale für Kleinplastik, Fellbach, 1980
und Bürgerpreis der 1.Triennale.

Born in Munich, Uli Pohl studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he attended the class of Ernst Geitlinger. He supported the exhibitions of the group ‘Zero’ since 1961 and also became a member of the artist society ‘Nouvelle Tendance’ in Paris. Parallel to his artistic activities, Pohl also worked as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg (1967-1971). His sculptural work is determined by the material of acrylic glass, as it perfectly corresponds with his ideas and concepts which are related to the thinking of Concrete Art. Uli Pohl is active as a sculptor, printmaker and draftsman and now lives in Blaustein near Ulm. His works are internationally traded and can be found in important collections such as the Kunstmuseum in Dusseldorf, the Wilhelm-Lehmbruck-Museum in Duisburg (which is especially renowned for it’s collection of sculpture) and the Museum in Ulm.
