William Joseph BROWN
1865–1949, USA

California artist, Brown first studied portraiture in San Francisco, later moving to Huntington Park. As the evidence in his paintings show, his mature work was greatly influenced by his surroundings, and a love of the coastal region and California settings permeated his mature work. He exhibited at the Los Angeles County Fair and at the Painters & Sculptors of Los Angeles beginning in 1929
